Together, we can create more connected, empathetic and compassionate communities
We have created the below lesson plans and educational resources for grades K-8, to be used either in conjunction with a Shoebox Project gift drive, or on their own.
It is our hope that this program will help your students:
Understand concepts of poverty & homelessness, and why it is a problem in Canada
Challenge stigmas and misconceptions related to homelessness
Learn about challenges specific to women and those with intersecting identities
Develop greater empathy and understanding for people impacted by homelessness
Explore support services for marginalized communities and how they can get involved
Each lesson is split into different sections with accompanying activities to reinforce learning. Select the appropriate one for your grade and download them below.
Bookmark this page! New resources are being added each month and we'll be incorporating a range of subjects, including math, media literacy, and art. Resources in French will also be added!
